Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rain garden? A shoreline buffer?

Earth & Water Works, LLC rain gardens and shoreline buffers are natural infiltration systems using native plants. Our rain gardens (sometimes called “bio-swales”) and shoreline buffers in municipal, residential and commercial settings reduce polluted stormwater runoff, erosion, and promote groundwater infiltration.

They also help builders and developers save money by reducing the amount of land used for less attractive “detention ponds.” Long term savings accrue from having less lawn to mow and water. Earth & Water Works, LLC rain gardens and shoreline buffers, which are drought resistant once established, are an attractive landscape feature, which increase property value.
